صُنع إبريق الشاي هذا من طين هوانغدوان الأرجواني، وهو مستوحى من شي شي، إحدى الجميلات الأربع العظيمات في الصين القديمة. يُحاكي هيكله منحنيات هذه الجميلة الفاتنة والرشيقة. يُركز شكله الكروي الروائح، بينما يسمح فوهته القصيرة بتدفق الماء بسرعة ويمنع الاختناق. وهو مناسب لشاي أولونغ العطري للغاية (مثل تيغوانيين) وشاي بو إير الناضج.

تم إنشاء هذا التصميم لأول مرة من قبل حرفي الطين الأرجواني في عهد أسرة مينغ Xu Youquan وتم تحسينه من قبل صانع الشاي الرئيسي في عهد أسرة تشينغ Wang Yinchun.

الأصل الجيولوجي لطين هوانغدوان: المعادن من منطقة الصدع الفريدة في جبل هوانغ لونغ في ييشينغ، وهي نتاج منطقة انتقال الكوارتزيت والطين (محتوى الحديد 1.5-2.8٪، اللون من التيتانيوم).
